AQD scientist Dr. Ma. Junemie Hazel Lebata-Ramos presented a paper on giant clams during the World Aquaculture Society meeting (21-25 February 2013) in Nashville, Tennessee.

“The future of AQD is in your hands,” SEAFDEC/AQD Chief Dr. Felix Ayson told AQD’s junior staff at the 6 March meeting at AQD’s Tigbauan Main Station in Iloilo. “A lot of our researchers are retiring in the next five years, and we are encouraging you to pursue graduate studies. Work hard and learn the craft to prepare yourselves to take the place of our retirees.”

“With the future of our country depending on innovators who are to come from universities and R&D institutions, IP or intellectual property can earn you millions and make your dreams come true,” said Atty. Ricardo Blancaflor, Director-General of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) during the Foundation course on IP held 7-8 March in Iloilo City by IPOPHIL in collaboration with the Western Visayas College of Science & Technology.

“In behalf of the Government of Japan, I would like to express my sincere respect to all the activities conducted by AQD researchers,” said Mr. Tetsuya Murakami during the Annual progress meeting of the program under the ASEAN-SEAFDEC Consultative group mechanism funded by the Government of Japan Trust Fund (GOJ-TF) in SEAFDEC/AQDheld 12-13 February.

Four BFAR (Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources) technical staff coming from Iloilo (1), Negros Occidental (1) and Antique (2) completed the 10-day training on Seaweed nursery techniques which concluded on 13 February at SEAFDEC/AQD’s main station in Tigbauan, Iloilo, Philippines.
