On 19 November, NFRDI staff met with AQD’s training & information group to discuss a possible capacity building on information dissemination and data management for NFRDI personnel. NFRDI plans to strengthen its science and documentation group and noted AQD’s success in aquaculture information dissemination. AQD’s development communication staff gave briefings on devcom initiatives and tools, including the online databases to support AQD’s management committee, while AQD’s librarians showed the institutional repository video.
Abandoned brackishwater ponds, if left untouched, can find themselves thriving with the prized mangrove crabs. Allowing mangroves to recolonize abandoned ponds may even provide local fishers with a lucrative source of income.
