Librarian’s research excellence

By Development Communication Section

For his contribution in the field of marine aquatic librarianship, SEAFDEC/AQD senior information assistant and library officer-in-charge Mr. Stephen Alayon was given the 2013 ASLP (Association of Special Libraries of the Philippines) Citation Award for Research Excellence on 16 January 2014 at Manila City. AQD had previously worked with ASLP in training librarians on using softwares such as Koha, DSpace and Greenstone Digital Library in 2013.

The AQD library made information and publications readily and publicly available through OPAC (online public access catalog) and SAIR (SEAFDEC/AQD institutional repository). Stakeholders can also access AQD’s library and information collection through Web 2.0, a software allowing users to interact in a social media dialogue.
