SEAFDEC/AQD, TESDA-6 team up to strengthen fisheries skills in Western Visayas

ILOILO City SEAFDEC/AQD formalized a partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Region 6 on 24 February 2026, at the TESDA Regional Office 6 to advance technical education and skills development in the fisheries and aquaculture sector.

SEAFDEC/AQD Chief Dan Baliao and TESDA Director General Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez led the signing of the memorandum of agreement, joined by TESDA Iloilo Provincial Director Glenford Prospero and acting TESDA-6 Regional Director Esther Babalo.

The signing coincided with the groundbreaking ceremony for the Regional Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Innovation Center in Iloilo under the Supporting Innovation in the Philippine Technical and Vocational Education and Training System (SIPTVETS) project.

The partnership aims to strengthen workforce competencies in fisheries and aquaculture, support industry needs, and contribute to economic growth in Western Visayas. N Armada
