FishWorld holds sci-art contests to promote aquatic sustainability among youth

Eighteen schools in Iloilo participated in the AquaWeek Sci-Art organized by FishWorld—SEAFDEC/AQD’s visitor center and museum—held from 8 to 11 December 2025 at the institution’s main station in Tigbauan, Iloilo.

The event featured contests themed on marine life and conservation, and attracted 62 participants, comprised of pre-school and elementary pupils, as well as junior and senior high school students.

The contests aimed to develop the students’ creativity while increasing their awareness of the importance of safeguarding aquatic life and marine resources. Pre-school contestants made clay sculptures while elementary participants joined postcard-making, storytelling, and children’s storybook-writing contest.

Moreover, junior high school students competed in creating artworks from marine debris, photo journalism, and stage play, while senior high school students competed in poster making, seafood dish preparation, and diorama creation based on the theme.
