Blood drive and medical mission mark SEAFDEC/AQD anniversary

by Development Communication Section

To promote health awareness among staff and extend medical support to nearby communities, SEAFDEC/AQD organized its annual bloodletting and medical mission on 4 July 2017 at its Tigbauan Main Station in Iloilo as part of its 44th anniversary activities.

The bloodletting activity, which yielded 14 bags of blood from 35 SEAFDEC/AQD donors, was in collaboration with Philippine Red Cross – Iloilo Chapter. It is hoped that the activity would promote voluntary blood donation and contribute to the local supply of blood.

Also, free medical consultation and medicines were given to 78 residents (37 children and 41 adults) of the villages of Buyu-an and Nanga. Consultations were courtesy of Dr. Joy Saquibal-Demetria, Dr. Eezaa Traya, and Dr. Jeffrey Rivas.
