The AQD Library has the best aquaculture collection in Southeast Asia ~ more than 40,000 books and bound serial volumes. We have four databases compiled since 1973 on aquaculture and fisheries:

  • FILIPINIANA - materials and citations on Philippine fisheries and aquaculture including SEAFDEC/AQD's papers published in journals and proceedings
  • SPEC - a special collection on selected brackishwater aquaculture species like grouper, milkfish, mudcrab, sea bass, siganids, and giant tiger shrimp
  • SERIAL - serial holdings that include journals, magazines, newsletters, bulletins, others
  • MONOG - a collection of books and pamphlets

We have exchange-of-publications agreements with several international institutions and libraries, Philippine government agencies and libraries, and individuals.

We also maintain CD-ROMs of Aquatic Science and Fisheries Abstracts (ASFA, www.silverplatter.com), Fish and Fisheries Worldwide (FFW) and Aquatic Biology & Fisheries Resources (ABFAR, www.nisc.com), Current Contents (www.isinet.com) - Agriculture, Biology and Environmental Science and Life Sciences, ReefBase, FishBase and FishStat (FAO, www.fao.org).

Upon request, AQD can prepare syllabus and conduct a training course made to fit the needs of requesting party. These are on topics not covered by our regular course offering.

For arrangements, email: training@seafdec.org.ph
