The Liga ng Sangguniang Kabataan
(SK) or Youth League of Iloilo Province, headed by the
Honorable Jeneda Salcedo who sits on the Provincial Board, together with SK leaders
from coastal municipalities, underwent exposure to various mangrove conservation
activities. Among these were a) lecture on Philippine Mangroves — their Status and
Conservation, by Pew Fellow Dr. J. H. Primavera, b) monitoring of seedling growth in
the 3-year old Barrido, Ajuy mangrove plantation, c) identification of mangrove species
in Culasi, Ajuy and Baguingin, Tigbauan, and d) survey of riverbank erosion in Tigbauan
town. Photos show some of those activities.
