AQD is in need of technical assistant for its socioeconomics section in Tigbauan, Iloilo.

SEAFDEC/AQD raises funds for its community partners from Barangays Codingle and Tamulalod in Dumarao, Capiz through an online benefit auction that will run from 15 December 2011 until 15 January 2012. The auction activity aims to help the community on their livelihood projects.

Approximately 450 kg of siganid will be harvested from SEAFDEC/AQD’s Dumangas Brackishwater Station on 15 December. You can buy the siganid with sizes 200-350 g ranging from Php 120 to Php 170 per kg. Fresh milkfish from SEAFDEC/AQD’s Milkfish cage culture project with Petron in Guimaras will be harvested on 7 or 8 December. The retail price of sizes 350 g and below is Php 95 per kg while sizes 400 g and above are priced at Php 110 per kg. SEAFDEC/AQD organized two on-site training on mud crab culture and fish health management in Myanmar and Lao PDR, respectively. The mud crab training was held from 26 September to 1 October; while fish health training was conducted from 11-14 October. Both training were funded by the Government of Japan Trust Fund.

SEAFDEC/AQD passed the Ring test or Inter-laboratory calibration organized by the Aquaculture Pathology Laboratory, Department of Veterinary Science and Microbiology of the University of Arizona, USA, headed by Dr. Donald Lightner. AQD promotes good aquaculture practices through early disease detection using reliable test methods.

The retail price per kg of sizes 350 g and below is Php 95 while sizes 400 g and above cost Php 110. Intro 2014 2015 Intro Since FishWorld opened, the people of Iloilo have reported the capture or stranding of endangered marine animals along the coasts and have brought some of them under the care of FishWorld. Marine turtles are quite often caught by fish corrals in Tigbauan, Iloilo. Captured turtles and dugongs were reported to the Pawikan Conservation Project of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. All healthy turtles were tagged and released back to sea. However, turtles that were sick, injured, or domesticated and confiscated were held and rehabilitated in the hatchery tanks at SEAFDEC/AQD. 2014 2015

Dagat Isda gallery The gallery shows paintings, sculptures, ceramics, glasscraft, and other artifacts that show the influence of fish and the ocean in human culture, tradition, and modern life.
