International Seaweed Congress 2014

Participants of the Seaweed Congress

Over 700 participants from Asia, Oceania, Europe and the Americas attended the International Seaweed Conference hosted by the Seaweed Industry Association of the Philippines in Cebu City last 19-21 November 2014.  These participants included farmers, processors, exporters, government officials, decision-makers, entrepreneurs, scientists, the academe and the stakeholders of the seaweed industry.  The theme of the congress is Breaking Barriers in Environmental, Health, Socio-Economic and Political Challenges. International experts presented papers on various topics such as development of seaweed farming techniques and the status and demand of the different seaweed species.

The SEAFDEC/AQD delegation consisted of the AQD Chief Dr. Felix G. Ayson, seaweed scientist and researchers Ms. Ma. Rovilla Luhan, Ms Jonalyn Mateo, Mr. Keneth Tibubos and AQD Information Specialists Mr. Isidro Tendencia and Mr. Jesus Manolo Almendras.
